Biography The 228 Gulf Coast’s 1 Hip Hop Artist Dollah Dae landed on the Muddy Mississippi Sound with a vision to change the face of southern music. Born Ade’Jola Kemp, crowning glory of his parents continues to live out his given name translated “The King that brings the crown to the family” by his innate ability to express his entrepreneur spirit, his visionary efforts and his appreciation for respect and prosperity.
Dollah’s experience as a child of an U.S. Marine, and East Coast borne mother has evolved over time, changing his relationship to Music and the need for the almighty dollar. Now the name “Dollah” is incorporated through family ties and respect for his ancestors. A tribute to his late grandfather William “Penny’ Troutman who fell victim to the urban streets prior to the birth of Dollah, is one of the many ways Dollah continues to Pay Homage for his blessings. Momma Dollah always said her son resembled “Penny” who received his name because of his copper tone hair color and all purpose hustle. Unlike his grandfather Dollah has taken the lessons of his families’ mistakes and infused urban culture with his musical art form. From a “Penny to a Dollar,” Cash multiplies, families strive, and the world continues to struggle. With these revelations in place Dollah Dae and his older brother/producer Mike E.D. launched their own Recording Company in 2004” Flat-Lyne Entertainment,Inc” which best describes their progressive struggle. The Term flat-lyne: symbolizing rebirth which is their approach toward the every day struggles and strife of today’s society. “Every time a person dies a baby is born. Flat-Lyne is the reality of a heart felt need to inspire Southern Hip Hop and the culture as a whole. Dollah Dae is also the founder of the formed 228 Union a collection of aspiring artists, businessmen, models and friends who came together for one common goal to make it happen. Stemming from Biloxi, Mississippi Dollah’s goals and aspirations may seem impossible to the average spectator. But from the perspectives of Dae & Mike these negative odds only act as inspiration. With over ten years of grinding under their belts these brothers have overcame the wrath of Hurricane Katrina, the lack of budget and the ins and outs of today’s music industry. So there’s only one way to go from the bottom straight to the top, with so much in store for 2007 and beyond Flat-Lyne’s main priority is securing a major recording contract so tell all the majors to Holla @ the Dollah!!! |
